In a bizarre incident that has left authorities and animal enthusiasts alike scratching their heads, a group of travelers in Western Australia were advised against getting too comfortable in a eucalyptus tree after a series of gruesome findings.
The local residents claimed to have been awoken in the early hours of the morning by what sounded like a grotesque, fluid-filled mess tearing through the branches of the tree. They reported listening to screams and unearthly sounds coming from within the hollow trunk as strangers apparently carved out a makeshift dwelling, ending in violent deaths.
"It was like something out of a horror film," said one native who wished to remain anonymous. "The screams and noise were like nothing I've ever heard before, the vibrations you would hear would shake the entire neighborhood."
Several investigators from the scene arrived shortly after, the creatures apparently broke into one of the branches and bashed in the skulls of 5 large bats and their halved remains. investigators conducted DNA testing on the survivors bats but DNA matches were unable to reveal any species known to man.
Investigators filed the incident as 'suspected murders' but zoo experts feared otherwise suspect acts involving estimated thousand bat counts.
